A Wife and Woman
de / sire– an intense feeling of wanting to have something or wishing for something to happen
When you hear or read the word ‘desire,’ what comes to mind? An uninterrupted night with your significant other? Or maybe it is not necessarily ‘desire in a relationship.’ It could be a need for a quiet, uninterrupted space for one. As a mother of four, I can vouch that alone time and privacy are currently a thing of the past. Some women’s desires may involve standing on center stage and capturing the world’s attention. A walk on the beach, with the warm sand softly massaging the bottom of one’s foot. For me, I desire human touch and physical connection. Particularly, a scalp massage or a foot rub. Let me clarify this does NOT mean sex. Sex is far from the top of my desire list, and my husband will agree 100%. Hence, the lack thereof is a major part of my blog.
A couple of months ago, I briefly wondered whether other women experience the same lack of desire in their relationship that I do. It’s doubtful that I’m the only wife, mother, and woman out there who feels overworked and exhausted. While I admit that raising children to be good people is rewarding, being a mother and wife is emotional and tiresome. The two worlds collide and affect my world as a woman. As a result, I decided to start sharing my experiences, some heavier than others as well as the obstacles I have overcome. Check out my blog, ‘Desire and Lack Thereof’ below, and feel free to share any of your triumphs or battles with me!
